Hello, I'm Lisa. I'm a crocheter, a crafter, and this is my yarn shop in Belper, Derbyshire.
In 2018 I started MaD Handmade Designs (it stands for mother and daughter). We began by selling a range of handmade gifts - painted glassware, wood, crochet - all of which could be personalised with your own design or message. But very soon the cry went up from crocheters and knitters around the county: "We need wool!"
It turns out there are very few places selling yarn locally, so we answered the call. In 2020 we opened our shop in the 1924 Building on Campbell Street.
Then, in 2023, we moved to our current home on King Street, Belper, Derbyshire, selling a huge selection of yarn, wool, accessories and patterns from suppliers like King Cole, Woolcraft, Stylecraft and Cygnet. We even sell locally-produced felting wool.
We're always happy to answer your questions and queries, or give you advice on your projects. In fact, we run regular crochet and knitting beginners sessions if you want to take the leap and learn a new skill. So please pay us a call in and say hello!
